Peshawar: The Pakistan Railways (PR) recently retrieved its commercial land worth millions of rupees in Alamgir Bagh situated adjacent to the Peshawar City Railway Station, a news source reported. Upon the directions of the Divisional Superintendent Nasir Khaleeli, Divisional Engineer Shah Nawaz carried out the operation for clearing encroachments in the area. Police and other officials concerned accompanied him during this drive.

Using heavy machinery, the railways administration removed the encroachments and retrieved its commercial land. According to sources, encroachers had occupied the said land for the past 20 years.
Moreover, as per the instructions of the senior officials, the administration appointed police officers for performing duty at different sections of Alamgir Bagh after completion of the land retrieval process. The police officers were tasked with performing their duty for up to 24 hours after the operation.

The railways administration has stated that they would commence with similar operations against those encroaching railways’ commercial land. The officials concerned added that no laxity would be observed in this regard.
