Gujranwala: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has notified the local bodies concerned to ensure cleanliness along the railway track that runs from Gujranwala to Aimanabad and from Gujranwala City to Cantt, reported a news source.

The railways administration has decided to address the health and sanitation issues in the areas under its jurisdiction after it was brought to the authority’s attention that these routes had been plagued with garbage and stagnant pond water.
It has also asked the local government (LG) representatives to control the flow of sewer water towards railway tracks in densely-populated areas.

Ensuring cleanliness along railways tracks is part of the PR’s ongoing efforts to deal with a potential epidemic breakout during the monsoon season. For this purpose, several teams have been tasked with controlling the growth and spread of dengue larva.
