Islamabad: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Saleem on Monday informed Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid that the Circular Railway Track was part of the Leh Expressway project, a news source reported.

Rashid chaired a high-level briefing for reviewing the progress on the said project. He stated that its early completion would permanently resolve the flooding issue in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, Rashid directed the officials concerned to complete the preparations so that the Leh Expressway project could be completed on a timely basis. In response, the officials stated that they would soon have a mechanism ready for constructing the expressway. They added that departments concerned would spend PKR 60 billion on completing this project.

According to details revealed during the meeting, the project would feature construction of roads along the 16-km-long embankments of Nullah Leh. The federal and provincial governments would collaborate to complete the project on a Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
