Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Railways (PR) on Sunday revealed that its Rawalpindi Division had completed the upgrades to 27 level crossings in the city, a news source reported. To this effect, Divisional Engineer-1 Tayyab Riaz stated that the department was making all-out efforts to improve the city’s railway infrastructure and ensure the safety of passengers.

Riaz stated that PR’s Rawalpindi Division had launched a project for upgrading the railway level crossings as part of improving the city’s railway infrastructure. He added that so far, the department has upgraded 27 unmanned railways crossings of the city under this project.
The divisional engineer revealed that department had completed all the work on 21 railway crossings. Work on the remaining six crossings would also reach completion soon as it was in its final stages, he added.
Last week, PR had announced its decision to float tenders for the rehabilitation of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project. Officials revealed that the department would issue tenders worth PKR 102 million in this regard.
