As per the details, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently invited bids exclusively from government-run construction firms, with Railcop and National Logistic Cell (NLC) participating in the competitive bidding process. The engineering wing of CDA disclosed that Railcop’s bid was accepted, and work orders would be issued after the bid evaluation process.
The project involves the construction of a double barrel underpass near Serena Hotel, and a portion of the existing Srinagar Highway from 7th Avenue Interchange to Serena Chowk will be widened, adding two additional lanes. The final section of the highway, from the mentioned junction to Murree Road, will also undergo an overhaul.

The entire design and construction work for the project is expected to be completed within six months. This includes the contractor finalizing the underpass’s design before commencing construction. The current prolonged traffic signal at the junction of Serena Chowk has been a major cause of traffic congestion and inconvenience for motorists, resulting in frequent traffic jams during rush hours.
