Lahore: All police departments situated in the Qurban Lines area will be relocated and the area will be converted into a residential compound for police employees, a news source quoted Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain Arif Nawaz Khan. He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held on Thursday.
The purpose behind this relocation is to provide safe and secure residential facilities to the families of the police staff. To ensure provision of basic utilities, a mini market will be constructed in the locality. Moreover, the Safe City Headquarters will continue to operate from the Qurban Lines.
To ensure timely initiation of the project, IG Khan has instructed the officers concerned to prepare and share the master plan with the Central Police Office by the end of August. He also directed his staff to prepare a report with regard to the proposed extension of Jamia Masjid Qurban Lines within one week.
To initiate and monitor construction work at the Jamia Masjid, the IG has also formed a three-member committee. He directed the committee members to prepare a feasibility report to shift the extra material to assist the conversion to the Police Mall Khana.
