Islamabad: The government has announced its decision to accommodate the transgender community in the Prime Minister (PM)’s Kamyab Jawan Programme loan scheme, according to news sources. This move was made to ensure greater involvement of marginalised communities in Pakistan.

The PM’s Kamyab Jawan Loan Scheme will offer the transgender community assistance and equal opportunities on par with every other citizen of the country, according to an official. He reiterated that the government is adamant about prioritising the transgender community, in order to help them become useful members of society.

He stated that the empowerment of the transgender community has been long overdue, and providing them with their basic rights and financial independence is only the first step. He opined that the social stigmatising of this community has prevented any meaningful discussion, however the present government was seeking to change this for the better.
