Quetta: The Balochistan government is deliberating on a proposal to designate the Jabal-e-Noor mountain peak as a new tourist attraction, a news source reported. This notification was made by provincial Chief Secretary (CS) Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar, who added that the intricate tunnels within the Chilthern Mountains offered the potential to attract a large number of international and local tourists annually.

The CS highlighted that Balochistan itself had significant potential in the tourism sector. He added that the provincial government has included several projects in this regard to its budget for the upcoming financial year.
Quetta is a city surrounded by beautiful and varied terrain, and Jabal-e-Noor is one of many significant mountain sites associated with the city. Also known as the Quran Mountain, this incredible spot actually derives its name from the Jabal-e Noor Mountain in Saudi Arabia, where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelations of the Quran.

The tunnels within the mountain contain millions of old and damaged copies of the Quran, which are either buried, stored in bags, or displayed in cases. Thousands of people visit the site daily to view the copies on display, and marvel at the scale of it all.
