Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has decided to set up the province’s first Information Technology (IT) Park in Quetta, a news source reported. The IT Park is estimated to cost about PKR 500 million. The provincial government recently released a grant of PKR 325 million in terms of annual expenditure for the Balochistan IT Department.

The facility will act as a one-step solution to expand the IT sector in the province. In addition to that, the provincial government is also working to introduce virtual technology in approximately 100 secondary and high schools in the province to education children in remote areas via online learning programmes. The estimated cost of this project stands at PKR 45 million, according to sources within the Balochistan Government.

Furthermore, the government has also allocated PKR 200 million in the Public Sector Development Programme for to set up Quetta Data Centre for replacing the paper-based data with android applications.

In addition, the provincial government has also allocated PKKR 1.867 billion for expanding the economic contribution in Balochistan in accordance with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
