While Punjab became the first province to launch the project, rest of the provincial governments soon followed and started working on the safe city project.
The previous government had ordered expansion of the project which it had introduced first in Lahore and then in six other divisions in the province. The divisions were Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.
The incumbent government ordered the establishment of PSCA centres in the remaining two divisions, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan, and pledged funds to this effect. The officials concerned had also prepared feasibility reports for the two centres.
