Islamabad: A meeting of the Capital Development Authority’s Development Working Party (DWP) on Tuesday announced its decision to renovate the ‘Quaid-e-Azam Monument’ on the Islamabad Expressway – according to news sources.

The site which carries the national motto ‘Unity, Faith and Discipline’, is located at the western side of the Islamabad Expressway. The steel monument also features the Quaid’s profile. It had collapsed due to heavy winds on August 13.
The meeting, held under the chair of CDA Chairman Amer Ali, also announced to add some enhancements to the founder’s portrait erected on the monument. The project is estimated to cost PKR 56 million and high-quality 2mm iron sheets will be used to remake the portrait. The proposed size dimensions of the portrait are 50×59 feet and a sculpture of Rohtas Fort will be added to the portrait, in addition to a fortification.

The CDA-DWP meeting also approved the following agendas:
- PC-I of the grade separation facility at the intersection of 7th Avenue with the Srinagar Highway and Khayban-e-Sohrwardi
- PC-II for engaging consultancy services for the alignment and feasibility study of the Eastern Bypass
- PC-I for the construction of multi-purpose ground at Shakarparian Phase II
- The construction of additional rooms at 22 different educational institutions of Islamabad
