Islamabad: Waste collection machinery imported from Japan to Quetta by the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), is to be made operational before Eid-ul-Azha, according to the city’s mayor Dr Kaleemullah. This kit includes waste lifting, collecting and dumping vehicles and equipment, with the capacity to collect 1,200 tons of trash on a daily basis. This accounts for 65 percent of the city’s total waste.
Kaleemullah expressed his desire to make Quetta the cleanest city by the time his tenure ends. He also revealed that PKR 800 million had been invested by the QMC into adding a recycling plant to get rid of piles of waste. In addition, he appealed the general public to display civic sense and not litter the city.
