Quetta: Experts have called on authorities to revise the master plan of Quetta, owing to the city’s burgeoning population that doubled over the last 20 years and the mushroom growth of high-rise buildings – a news source reported.

While speaking on the matter, a local official said that the provincial capital lacks planning for urbanisation, and is also dotted with unauthorised constructions. He called on the Quetta Development Authority (QDA) to make preparations for the revision of the master plan in a scientific and planned manner. This plan was supposed to be revised every 20 years but has been ignored for the past 35 years.

He added that Quetta is facing a shortage of drinking water due to an unsuitable WASA network. Traffic jams have also become a routine, while mushroom growth of commercial buildings on narrow roads constantly disturbs the smooth flow of traffic in the city.
