Islamabad: Qatar has pledged to invest PKR 3 billion in Pakistan in the form of deposits and direct investments, a news source reported.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan quoted Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as saying that the Gulf country planned to make investments up to USD 9 billion.
Qatar’s top diplomat also affirmed his country’s aspiration to develop relations between with Pakistan at all levels, including politics, sports, economy, and culture.
Previously, the leaderships of the two countries had finalised several agreements pertaining to tourism, investment, trade, and financial intelligence during the two-day state visit of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Pakistan.
During delegation-level talks with the visiting dignitaries, Adviser to the PM on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh thanked the Qatari Emir for facilitating these investments and for the country’s commitment to developing relations with Pakistan.
