Lahore: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Aslam Iqbal on Monday (August 22) reviewed the progress of various development projects in the city, news sources reported. The minister reviewed the progress of the Saggian Road bypass project, Shahkam flyover, and Babu Sabu interchange project.

The minister stated that the aforementioned projects are important for the city since they serve as entry and exit points for thousands of motorists daily. During the meeting, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Amir Ali Ahmad briefed the minister on the various projects. It was informed that the repair, maintenance, and expansion project of Sagian Road, the main entrance and exit of the city, is almost complete. The project includes the construction of a 4.4-kilometre-long road from Ravi Bridge to Phul Mandi Chowk.
Additionally, the project involves the construction of a 3.1-kilometre-long road from Phul Mandi Chowk to Faizpur Interchange. In the third package of the project, the construction of a road from Phul Mandi Chowk to Begum Kot is included. The DG LDA revealed that the project is 60% complete and will be open for traffic by October 2022.

Furthermore, he said that the Shahkam flyover will also be completed by September 30 after the renovation work is over.
It is worth noting that the Punjab government launched several road infrastructure development projects, especially beautifying the city’s entry and exit points.
