Lahore: Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Managing Director (MD) Tanveer Jabbar said that the government has planned to build affordable glamping pods at several tourist destinations in the province to encourage tourism, news sources reported on August 25.

The initiative would cost PKR 40 million and will assist to develop local jobs and increase tourism while minimising the adverse effects on the environment. In the first phase, pods had been installed at Murree and Patriata and soon the pods will be installed at other sites including Kotli Sattian, Soon Valley and Changa Manga. According to a TDCP spokesman, the initiative was launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) tourist development authority and was a hit, as they erected glamping pods in Thandiani (Galyat), Bishigram (Swat), Sheikh Badin (Lakki Marwat), Shangla (Malakand), and Sharan (Mansehra).

Following their footsteps, Punjab has also decided to install pods at Murree to divert the tourist rush from the main city to the outskirts by offering affordable accommodation options.
