Reportedly, the passes will be issued in consultation with the school administration situated along the metro train route. No passes will be issued directly to students but will be issued as per the number of students and the location of the schools. The OLMT will provide free travel during the school timings to the students. It is important to note that OLMT was launched in 2018 and runs 27 kilometres, starting from Ali Town near Thokar and ending at Dera Gujran. It is an automated rapid transit line in Lahore being operated by the Punjab Mass Transit Authority.

The government of Punjab has recently announced plans to construct an elevated expressway on Multan Road that will run parallel to the OLMT and will end at the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M4) near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange. The project is being touted as a means to alleviate traffic congestion problems in the city.
