Multan: Punjab government is planning to outsource the operational and recovery wings of all waste management companies to enhance efficiency and extend coverage from cities to districts within respective divisions, according to a news report on April 26.
Chairman MWMC Mian Rashid Iqbal stated that the local government of Punjab has directed waste management companies to implement this outsourcing plan. As per details, the bidding process will involve shortlisting bidders, with contracts awarded to the lowest rate bidder, and implementation expected to begin in June 2024.

Under the plan, the selected vendor will rent existing machinery from the company, pay salaries to sanitary workers, address staff and machinery shortages, establish landfill sites, and collect sanitation taxes.
However, final approval from the Punjab government is pending, and services will commence once approved by the relevant authority.
