Lahore: The Government of Punjab is planning to introduce legislation to ensure the full utilisation of development funds in south Punjab, a news source reported.
Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, speaking at a recent press conference, informed that since 35-percent of the province’s development funds would be allocated to South Punjab in the upcoming budget, their complete utilisation would be ensured through legislation geared towards meeting this end.
He further said that the South Punjab secretariat would be completed soon.

The minister also announced the introduction of a new model of public-private partnership (PPP) in the province. This framework would focus on arranging partnerships for development projects, rather than delaying or cancelling them due to the lack of suitable financial resources.
He added that since the government has had a successful developmental experience in mega cities, this operational pattern would be replicated in the smaller cities. He said the government would announce its five-year financial policy in June.
