Lahore: A Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) meeting has decided to lease out the TDCP Resort near Gurdwara Janam Astahan in Nankana Sahib, according to a news report published on June 26.

The said meeting was chaired by Adviser to Chief Minister on Tourism Asif Mehmood and TDCP Chairman Shohail Zafar Cheema and Managing Director (MD) Tanveer Jabbar. The MD told the meeting that various parties have expressed interest in leasing out the resort near Nankana Sahib Gurdwara that accommodates the Sikh Yatrees (pilgrims). The leasing process will be completed in a couple of days.
The adviser to the chief minister has issued all required facilities for Sikh pilgrims’ accommodation. The meeting reviewed the master plan layout for Hiran Minar, Shiekhupura. He said that the heritage site of Hiran Minar is being revamped and will be converted into a major tourist destination.

The adviser said that upon the chief minister’s directions all steps would be taken to promote tourism in Punjab. Hiran Minar has great potential to attract local and foreign tourists once its Mughal-era heritage is fully restored. He issued directions that the original layout of Hiran Minar should not be affected during the development work.
