Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to construct shelter homes in every district – a news source reported.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. The shelter homes will be established in a phased manner for the homeless.
He said that the government was fulfilling its responsibility regarding provision of food and shelter to the needy. Necessary steps were being taken in this regard, he added.

Buzdar said that he was personally monitoring the construction of more shelter homes in Lahore and Rawalpindi. He informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed him to expedite the project.
He said that the dwellers in the government’s shelters were being provided with food and medical facilities.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has introduced some changes to the shelter homes’ design. A single shelter home will now be constructed at a cost of approximately PKR 290 million.

The social welfare department has already approved the revised design and cost structure. The shelter homes near Datta Darbar and Railway Station will now cover two kanals of area.
