Lahore: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has announced solid waste management projects for 20 main cities of the province, a news source reported. The minister was in a meeting with a Chinese delegation discussing the Lahore sanitation and other related projects.
The minister said that the old method of land filling is now being replaced by energy generation through waste. He expressed hopes that the maximum number of projects would be initiated with foreign companies on a Build-Operate-Transfer basis so that it doesn’t burden the national exchequer.
Shandong Manguo Kangjie sanitation group, which was a part of the Chinese delegation, gave a detailed presentation to the minister and informed the minister they have 120 sub-companies. They also have a huge network of 600 projects in 25 provinces of China, while annually 700 million Yuan of sanitation assets and annual sales income of 900 million Yuan is also on their credit.
