Lahore: Committees at the tehsil level are to be formed by the Punjab Government for the provision of clean drinking water, according to a news report. This information was shared by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. These committees are to be headed by assistant commissioners, and they will ensure the supply of potable water to the general public.

This issue was raised in a meeting held at the Governor’s House, presided over by Sarwar. Other members of the gathering included Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, Senior Minister Abul Aleem Khan, Minister for Law Raja Basharat, and Minister for Finance Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, among others.

Sarwar constituted a 7-member committee to draw up a legal framework for the formation of the aforementioned committees. This overseeing body is to be headed by Raja Basharat, and it will prepare a report outlining the procedures to form further committees. This report would be submitted to Sarwar and Buzdar for their final approval. The resultant committees would recommend sites for the construction of water filtration plants, as well as their post-installation maintenance.
