Multan: The Government of Punjab has decided to close down all government-owned farmhouses in the province, according to a news source. The decision has been taken in response to dropping income generated from these farms and their increased maintenance costs.
Some proposals are being considered for using the land for other purposes, including converting them into schools and hospitals. Auctioning them off to increase provincial revenue has also been suggested. The third proposal is to convert the land into low-cost housing schemes for people from the low-income tier.
For the Multan Agriculture Farm, it has been decided to allot the land to Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University.
