Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to establish a technology park in Lahore in order to develop the province’s information technology (IT) sector, news sources reported. The initiative is called “Technology Pura,” and it will be financed with USD 25 million.

The said venture, according to sources, will be constructed along the same lines as Silicon Valley in California. In this regard, laws and regulations will be streamlined to ensure that youth, entrepreneurs, and businesspeople get the most out of the initiative. The provincial government has allocated funding for the initiative, and consultants will be engaged soon to assess and analyse the viability of the technological zones.
In another development, the Cabinet Committee on Law accepted plans to make Punjab the twin province of the Chinese province of Hunan, Lahore the Chinese city of Qingdao, and Multan the Chinese city of Chongqing during its 70th meeting.

An 18-point agenda from several departments were reviewed during the cabinet meeting, and numerous proposals were adopted. The Punjab Information Technology Board and the Board of Revenue signed a Service Level Agreement. The cabinet also approved the proposed Punjab Empowerment Act2021 for handicapped persons, as well as the Punjab Ab Pash Forest and Ecotourism Act 2021 and the establishment of the Rachna Wildlife Park in Gujranwala.
