Reportedly, the special anti-smog squad will be made up of personnel from various departments, including traffic police, transportation, and environmental protection, and will be run by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD). The anti-smog squad would conduct frequent checks on vehicles releasing smoke in the city and would take action against vehicles emitting smoke in excess of the permissible limit. The anti-smog unit will also ensure vehicle inspections at city entry points. The provincial government also published an advert in the leading newspaper to sensitise the public regarding the ongoing efforts and how the public can help reduce the smog problem in the city.
The following are some of the suggestions:
- Incinerate hospital waste through the proper method

- The brick kilns are required to install ‘Zigzag Technology’ to reduce smoke

It is worth noting that international organisations designated Lahore the worst-performing city in terms of air quality in the previous year’s winter air quality index. Every winter, all of Punjab’s major cities are covered in a heavy layer of smog, which degrades health quality.
