LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet has approved a reduction in electricity prices for Islamabad residents, mirroring the Rs14 per unit relief already granted to Punjab consumers for August and September. This move, announced during the 14th provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is expected to benefit over 150,000 consumers in the federal capital.
Chief Minister Nawaz also revealed that the government would soon launch a solar panel program as part of its ongoing efforts to provide sustainable energy solutions.

In addition to the electricity relief, the cabinet approved Punjab’s first-ever Climate-Resilient Vision and Action Plan for 2024, aimed at addressing environmental challenges in the province.
The meeting also saw the approval of several other key initiatives, including the formation of the Punjab Zakat and Usher Council and the Baitul Mal Council. Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned the lease of state land for the construction of Al-Shifa Hospital, which will specialize in treating eye diseases.
