Lahore: The Punjab government has organised teams to inspect the construction work and materials used in major development initiatives taking place in the province, news sources reported on December 12.

The teams will encompass additional directors and assistant directors from different regions who will monitor and assess the quality of the materials utilised in the projects. According to the sources, the local government would be fined for failing to maintain quality based on the quality assessment reports issued by the monitoring teams.

The administration has assigned two teams to monitor various sections of the province in this respect. The Team A will visit the construction sites of several development projects in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Gujranwala divisions and Team B will supervise development projects in the divisions of Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur. Furthermore, the teams will visit the building sites and photograph the construction materials.
For projects with development costs under PKR 5 million, teams will collect samples using non-destructive sampling methods and send weekly reports to the government, along with payment to contractors for involved development projects. It was also informed that a decision had been made to monitor and maintain the quality of construction of the different public development plans, as well as to limit budget embezzlement.
