Lahore: Education Minister Dr Murad Raas on Tuesday announced that the government plans to establish separate schools for transgender community in various cities, according to media sources. The first-ever school for transgender community to be opened in Multan.

During the Insaf Afternoon School Programme (IASP) ceremony, the minister stated that, in view of the challenges that the transgender community faces in school, the government has chosen not to enrol them in regular schools. He went on to say that the attitude toward them is disrespectful, and that a separate schools for transgender community should be established as a result.
Furthermore, the education minister praised teachers and chief executive officers for their contributions to the province’s successful enrolment drive. He also stated that under IASP, certain schools will be selected to be upgraded before the schools reopen. Moreover, registration for such schools will be completed by July 15.

Dr. Murad Raas further stated that the Single National Curriculum would be adopted on August 1, 2021, in order to enhance education standards across the country.
