Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday launched the CM Punjab Wheat Incentive Programme, an initiative aimed at increasing wheat production and supporting small and medium-scale farmers across the province. As part of the scheme, 1,000 free tractors will be distributed to selected farmers through a transparent digital balloting process.
The Punjab Free Tractors Scheme will provide 55-horsepower tractors at no cost to eligible farmers. The first recipient was Kausar Parveen, a female farmer from Bahawalnagar. Other successful applicants included Muhammad Iqbal from Jhang and Salman Ahmed from Mandi Bahauddin, who received their tractors during the launch ceremony.

Out of 57,733 applicants, 21,496 farmers were deemed eligible for the final selection process. The Punjab government has assured that all selected farmers will receive their tractors within the next three months.
This initiative is part of a broader agricultural reform plan, which also includes the Green Tractor Scheme, the Kisan Card for financial aid, and the Super Seeder Scheme to promote modern farming techniques.
The provincial government has designated 560,000 acres for wheat cultivation, with expectations of a record harvest this season. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed confidence in the programme’s impact, stating that it will provide much-needed financial relief to farmers while improving wheat yields across Punjab.
