Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Tuesday (January 25) announced the expansion of Rescue 1122 services to all tehsils of the province, news sources reported. The services will be extended to all 79 tehsils in Punjab as part of the upcoming expansion.

According to reports, in the first phase, CM Buzdar handed over the keys to 22 new ambulances to staff from 11 tehsils. The enhanced services were launched in Sharqpur Sharif, Safdarabad, Narang Mandi, Nowshera Virkan, Nurpur, Quaidabad, Kahror Pakka, Renala Khurd, Pindi Bhattian, Darya Khan, and Jalalpur Pirwala tehsils in the first phase. With the increase, each tehsil will now have a 29-person team with two operational ambulances. The project is expected to be completed by June of this year. According to reports, the project will be sponsored by the government for a prolonged length of time, with the addition of new services.

Furthermore, it was announced that Punjab has been the first province to launch an air ambulance service, which has expanded emergency services to outlying areas of the province. Many lives will be saved as a result of this, which would not have been possible without the availability of helicopters.
