Lahore: The Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) Board on Tuesday (September 27) approved projects worth over PKR 20 billion for the provincial capital, news sources reported.

The approved projects include road infrastructure development and sanitation improvement initiatives for Lahore. This also includes funds for the revised Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of three mega projects:
- PKR 4.90 billion has been approved for the revised PC-1 of the Sheranwala Gate Flyover project
- PKR 2.25 billion has been awarded for the revised PC-1 of the Gulab Devi Underpass project
- PKR 3.91 billion has been allocated for the revised PC-1 of the Shahkam Chowk Flyover project

Moreover, the government also approved PKR 9.05 billion for the Shahdara Mor Road project.
The P&D Board has asked the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to get the project’s PC-1 approved in the next meeting. As per the LDA sources, the government would fund the project that will include:
- PKR 1.19 billion for the acquisition of land for the expansion of the road
- PKR 43.2 million for the horticulture-related work
- PKR 100 million for pedestrian bridges

According to the project’s design, there will be three-lane flyovers on each side of the road, one for traffic entering and leaving Kot Abdul Malik and the other two for traffic heading from Niazi Chowk to Kot Abdul Malik. The project also involves the development of a new water supply and drainage system for the Kala Khatai, Sheikhupura Road, and GT Road regions.
