Lahore: The Punjab government has a plan to shift the Orange Line Metro Train to solar energy to preserve the environment and save utility expenses, according to news published in the leading newspaper on August 16.

The general manager of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) mentioned that the only viable solution amid the soaring electricity rates is to shift the Orange Line Train to renewable energy. It was disclosed that this transition will help save PKR 1.9 billion. He went on to say that the government has various plans to shift Orange Line Train to renewable energy. Currently, the department is examining all the plans to determine the most viable transition strategy.

According to the details, one of the plans includes construction of a 50MW to 70MW solar power plant that will activate a mechanism of input to output through WeLink to power up the train.
