Lahore: Punjab Minister for Housing Malik Asad Khokhar on Thursday (December 09) approved the Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the hybrid low-cost housing project, news sources reported. The houses will be built on government-owned land in collaboration with private contractors.

According to sources, housing colonies will be established in Jhelum, Sialkot and Pattoki and the cost of constructing a residence is expected to be PKR 2.275 per square foot. The decision was made during the 82nd governing body meeting of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA). As per the decision, private firms will construct hybrid houses, each of which will be completed in just three days. It was also announced that the houses will be built with current trends in mind and in accordance with international building standards to make them long-lasting.

Similarly, it was decided that the completed homes will be offered to people via bank leasing under a public-private partnership.
