Lahore: The Punjab Excise Department has introduced a new initiative aimed at tackling property tax evasion. Under this scheme, individuals who report instances of property tax evasion will receive a 20% reward from the fines collected. The initiative is open to both citizens and department employees, providing a financial incentive for whistleblowers to help combat tax fraud.

The scheme was approved by the provincial cabinet as part of a broader effort to improve tax compliance and strengthen enforcement. Offenders caught evading property taxes will be required to pay fines equivalent to the amount of tax they have avoided.
To ensure the safety and privacy of whistleblowers, the identities of those who report tax evasion will remain confidential. This measure aims to encourage more people to come forward without fear of retaliation.
Excise officials confirmed that the new initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department to reduce tax evasion and boost provincial revenue. The reward program is expected to play a key role in promoting public participation and raising awareness about the importance of tax compliance.
