Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a high-level meeting on Friday, saying that ‘Special Economic Zones’ were being established to encourage the industrial sector on a national level, and that special incentives were being offered to industrialists to set up new units, according to the news sources.

He assured that all possible steps to promote industrial investment and trade in Punjab are being taken. The CM said that existing Industrial Estates are also being renovated to be able to better accommodate emerging needs. He revealed that a committee has been set up to review and submit zoning guidelines for the industries.

CM Buzdar was of the view that accelerated industrialization will create approximately 1.5 million employment opportunities for youths and trained human resources in the province. He said that the government is implementing practical strategies to promote Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs), and maintained that trade and industry boost the national economy, with the new industrial policy proving to be a game-changer.
