Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to convene a second ministerial committee meeting to review and discuss various mega development projects in Lahore city, news sources reported. The meeting will discuss the financial models and proposals of five projects including the construction of the Gulberg Elevated Expressway.

As per the report, the PKR 54 billion proposals will be evaluated for their feasibility, financial options and model of development. The committee of provincial ministers will be given a detailed briefing on the financing model for the Elevated Expressway project including the borrowing from the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for the project. Moreover, a sub-committee will be constituted to take possession of the land acquired for the project. The sub-committee will be responsible for addressing the concerns and grievances of the affectees of the project as well. In this regard, the secretary minister’s committee and LDA Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar has issued invitations to the ministers, secretaries and officials of various departments.

It is important to mention here that the Gulberg Elevated Expressway project will start from Gulberg and end at M-2 Motorway – Babu Sabu Interchange and has been in the making since 2015. However, the project was shelved due to its cost and the non-availability of financial partners. Recently, Punjab CM Usman Buzdar revived the project in October.
