To this effect, the provincial divisional commissioners and district collectors have been instructed to produce reports on the subject. The land will be utilised to build commercial shops and will be leased to the public for four years through an open auction. At the end of the specified period, the stores will be auctioned off again for a period determined by the land revenue authority at the time of auction.

According to reports, the decision was made to boost state revenue, employ property for economic uses, and prohibit encroachment on idle public land. The auction announcement has come after the department’s last effort on September 30, 2019. However, the notification sent at the time did not include a lease duration, which caused a misunderstanding. The notice was later cancelled.
