Lahore: The Punjab government has launched an ‘Electronic Traffic Challan Payment System’ and a ‘Time Scheduling System’ for the issuance of driving licenses to facilitate the public and restrict their movement amid the country’s ongoing coronavirus outbreak, according to news sources.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the two systems to become operational in Lahore district, which are in its initial phase. These two online portals will assist with streamlining the performance of the City Traffic Police and bring it at par with the modern requirements. There are multiple options for electronic payment of the issued traffic challan. People who are seeking to pay their traffic challans online can:
- Use the 1-Link facility
- Use ATM cards for payment
- Utilise ‘Easy paisa’ and ‘MobiCash’ smartphone applications
- Make use of their mobile banking channels to pay for their challan
Similarly, for the issuance of licenses, people can now schedule the date and time using these methods:

Walk-in: People can visit their closest City Traffic Centre and schedule their appointment for the licensing centre at the reception.
