Lahore: The Punjab government is all set to launch an e-payment app ‘ePay Punjab’ today (Friday), to facilitate all the Business to Government (B2G) and Public to Government (P2G) payments to improve revenue generation for the government, according to news sources.
The creation of this app is a joint effort of the Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB) and the Punjab Finance Department. The app will enable the provincial citizens to pay taxes through three electronic channels; Online Banking, ATM machines, and Over the Counter (OTC) transactions.

The Finance Minister of Punjab Makhdoom Jawan Bakht Hashim chaired a meeting on Thursday and said that the mobile app ‘ePay Punjab’ will eliminate the need for repeated visits to the collection offices for tax payments. He also said it would discourage the bribery and corruption culture launched by the touts, who help people through the payment process in return for money.

In Phase-1, the app will assist people in the payment of 12 different taxes to the Board of Revenue (BoR), Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA), Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), and the Excise and Industry department. The taxes include:
1. Token Tax
2. Motor Vehicle Registration
3. Property Tax
4. Professional Tax
5. Cotton Fee
6. e-Stamping
7. Transfer of Motor Vehicle Tax
8. Mutation Fee
9. Fard Free
10. Sales Tax on Services
11. Punjab Infrastructural Development Cess
12. Business Registration Fees
The citizens will be able to generate a 17-digit PSID unique code to pay the taxes through the given electronic payment channels. The government also has plans to broaden the payment features, and enable citizens to use the app for other facilitations as well (like school fee, driving license, e-challan etc).
