Karachi: Based upon the directives of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the Sindh government’s home department on Monday notified its sanction for the reopening of wedding halls from September 15 (today) onward, according to news sources. Wedding halls and venues in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are also expected to be reopened today following a suspension period of six months — with this allowance having come in the wake of the recent decline in coronavirus cases observed across the country.

The official notification from the Sindh government has allowed for wedding ceremonies to take place at the reopened wedding halls and venues from today onwards. However, attendees have been asked to comply with the government-sanctioned COVID-19 measures at the events — with all present individuals directed to wear face masks and maintain social distancing protocols throughout the proceedings.
Moreover, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Mohammad Usman stated that weddings halls would only be allowed to operate at 50% capacity in order to ensure social distancing.

The Sindh government has also issued timings for conducting business activities — with commercial entities allowed to operate between 6 am to 8 pm, with another hour’s extension for Saturday nights. While these timings are to be observed till October 15, the medical stores and essential utilities’ stores will be exempted from these limitations.
