Lahore: The Punjab Finance Department has invited public proposals for Budget 2020-21 to help in determining the government’s spending priorities for the applicable timeframe, a news source reported. The budget announcement is expected next month.

The publication invites the general public to submit their proposals and suggestions regarding departments that need more funds including health and medical facilities, environment protection, economic relief, generation of investment opportunities, social security, and/or employment opportunities.
However, the suggestions can only be submitted until May 28, 2020. These can be dispatched to either through the post to “Deputy Secretary (Budget), Finance Department, Civil Secretariat, Lahore” or it can be emailed at budget.ro@punjab.gov.pk

The preparations has been ongoing at both the provincial and federal levels, where a number of public proposals for Budget 2020-21 have been submitted. According to the experts, a balanced budget will be critical for the economy’s recovery in the wake of coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown that followed.
