Lahore: The Punjab government will inaugurate the groundwork of the highly-anticipated Central Business District (CBD) project in Gulberg-Lahore on October 22, news sources reported on September 18.

The project will accommodate various highrise buildings that are intended to constitute the project’s focal point. Recently, Former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan posted a series of tweets highlighting the futuristic development and the concept design. He said that ‘Pakistan’s 1st central business district, @CBDPunjab, will accommodate 100+ vertical developments, adding 600b+ to the country’s economy. To complement futuristic vertical development, the groundwork will commence Oct ’22 on Lhr’s Main Blvd, reshaping the entire infrastructure of the vicinity’.
He went on to say that the project’s goal is to create a viable and active source of revenue from unutilised land that has been sitting idle for a long time. He also emphasised the River City’s continuous development activity, which is a project of the River Urban Development Authority (RUDA). He stated that the project will be finished with a total of USD 40 billion in foreign direct investment and will serve 15 million people.

It is worth noting that the previous government launched RUDA and CBD in 2020 to promote vertical and smart development trend in the city. So far, the project has undergone many auctions of plots, raising billions of rupees.
