Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to implement modified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the province to curb Omicron variant spread of the prevailing COVID-1 pandemic, news sources reported. In a notification issued from the Chief Minister Secretariat, the administration across Punjab have been asked to follow Non-pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) and increase vaccination drive.

According to Secretary of Primary and Secondary Health Care Imran Sikandar Baloch, the notification will be effective till January 31st. The administration has decided to apply amended SOPs in all cities with a positivity rate of 10% or above. Some of the SOPs issued in the notification are as follows: Wedding ceremonies in Punjab will be restricted from January 24 to February 15
- Business and government activities will continue as normal
- All indoor meetings, wedding ceremonies, and dining will be prohibited.
- Outdoor gatherings and wedding ceremonies with a capacity of 300 fully vaccinated persons will be permitted across the province.

- All shrines, gyms, and movie theatres in the province will be permitted to operate at half capacity.
- All types of contact sports will be completely banned
- From January 20, all modes of public transportation in Punjab will be allowed to operate at 70% capacity.
- The train will be allowed to operate at 80% capacity.
- Controlled tourism with fully vaccinated people will be allowed
- All amusement parks, pools and parks will be open with 50% coverage
- Children under the age of 12 will be permitted to attend school. Educational institutions will be open to all youngsters above the age of 12
