Lahore: The Punjab government has announced its decision to conduct an audit of all housing schemes situated in the province in an effort to protect the property ownership rights of citizens, a news source reported. Punjab LG & Community Development (LGDC) Department Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held to review the implementation status of the Local Government (LG) Act 2019.

Further, he stressed on the need for carrying out the audit of all approved and unapproved housing societies in the province. He stated that this measure would help prevent illegal developments and protect rights of the public.
The secretary said that the managements of all housing societies would have to provide their sales and purchase records to the authorities concerned and implement the building rules. He said that the administrations of these schemes were bound to display the rules in their offices and indicate illegal construction before it actually begins.

Citing the construction of 250 illegal commercial plazas in Punjab, Qazi said that the provincial government would take strict action against those violating the building plans and regulations.
