Lahore: The Punjab government will begin constructing at least 100,000 low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project in June, a news source reported.
A meeting to this effect took place in Lahore on Tuesday, which was presided over by Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed.
Representatives of the Housing Task Force, Punjab Housing & Town Planning Agency (PHATA), NESPAK, along with private developers, attended the meeting.
During the session, the participants agreed to bring the necessary amendments in housing and LDA laws to facilitate the construction of low-cost houses. The officials concerned directed the authorities to complete this task within a month’s timeframe.
In a similar measure, the minister asked private developers to assist LDA and PHATA with the completion of the NPHP project in Punjab. The participants also discussed rules and regulations for this purpose.
