Lahore: The Punjab government has constituted a committee to prepare recommendations with regard to converting Murree’s Punjab House into a university – a news source reported.
This committee is comprised of officials of the revenue, tourism, communication, youth affairs, and finance departments. A decision to this effect was taken by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

The Punjab House was built during former chief minister Manzoor Wattoo’s tenure. Constructed on 8.75 acres of land, it currently has at least 100 employees.
At present, the building is being maintained by the Service and General Administration Department (S&GAD). It also serves as the preferred guest house for the chief minister and other top officials.

As per reports, the PM had initially wanted to convert the Punjab House into an international-level hotel. However, he later gave his approval for establishing it as a university.
Furthermore, plans are in place to convert the Government House situated at Murree’s Kashmir Point into a hotel. The provincial government, reportedly, plans to generate additional income through this move.
