Lahore: The Government of Punjab has approved the initiative to tax agricultural lands and commercial areas around national and provincial highways and motorways – a news source reported on November 16. The government will amend Punjab Finance Act, 2019 for imposing the property tax.

The decision was taken during the 37th meeting of the provincial cabinet chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday. The meeting also approved Punjab Motor Vehicle Transaction License Rules 2015 and amendments in and re-implementation of Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Act, 2014.

According to the amendments in Punjab Overseas Pakistan Act 2014, the members of the commission formed under the act will be increased from 23 to 27. Moreover, Overseas Pakistanis Commission Committees will also be formed at tehsil level on pattern of District Overseas Pakistanis Commission Committees.
