Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has informed the district administration that funds worth PKR 4 billion will be released for more than 300 ongoing development schemes in the next fiscal year 2019-20, a news source reported. The projects had been initiated during the tenure of the previous government.

According to an official of the district administration, the ongoing development schemes are mostly related to roads, streets, water supply, school buildings and the health sector.
Representative of several union councils had contacted the district administration about the completion of these recently. He said that more than 50% of the work had been completed and funds were needed to complete the rest.
The district administration had asked the provincial government to release funds and the latter had said that the funds would be released in the next fiscal year.

He said the Punjab government had issued directives for austerity to save money, as it is facing a shortage of funds.
