Lahore: The Punjab Government has signed an aide-memoire with Korea’s Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) to resolve issues related to potable water supply, according to a news source.

Under this initiative, USD 300,000 will be spent on a study for the implementation of a smart water management system. This initiative falls under the ambit of the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP).
The first phase will involve the introduction of the programme to Sargodha by PICIIP and KSP-ADB. Presentations regarding this programme were given by Exim Bank Director KyongSeo Park Deuk-Koo, KOH Dongbu Engineering Executive Vice President K-Water and Senior Manager Je Young. They discussed the scope of the programme, along with an overview and detailed plan.
KSP-ADB will perform a thorough, in-depth analysis of the water management system in Sargodha and a practical and theoretical policy consultation to share Korea’s experience and policies regarding its water management system.

This project involves protective monitoring using smart devices to determine the quality and quantity of drinking water. In addition, PICIIP, with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will support different uplift programmes in the intermediate cities of Punjab. The provincial government has put a lot of emphasis on the provision of potable water.
